What do Bacchus, The Last Supper, and modern café scenes have in common? Wine! This talk uncorks the rich and often surprising connections between art and wine—from ancient rituals to Renaissance grandeur, from symbolic still lifes to the bohemian charm of 19th-century paintings. Together, we'll explore artworks that celebrate, spiritualize, and sensualize wine across the centuries, including:

  1. Ancient depictions of wine in early religious and mythological art
  2. The revival of classical wine themes in the Renaissance and Baroque
  3. The iconic The Last Supper
  4. The role of wine in still life painting
  5. Modern era interpretations of wine in everyday life
  6. A special look at Wine and Women through the artistic lens Plenty of time for questions, conversation, and perhaps a few wine-related surprises—join us for this visual tasting!

About Roberta

Roberta’s love for art and architecture borders on "obsession"—and she’s happily embraced it! Her special passion lies in Modernist architecture, which led her to earn a Graduate Certificate with distinction in History of Art and Architecture from Birkbeck University. That was actually her second degree—her first career is in Economics, with over 20 years of experience in the fast-paced world of financial markets. Now, she channels her energy into making art and architecture not just informative, but fun, relatable and engaging for everyone. She’s the founder of Art Tours with a Theme – ART wiT, a London-based project offering themed tours and talks that bring the city’s creativity to life. You can follow her curated art and architecture adventures on Instagram @artwit_london and Facebook @artwitlondon.
