The talk reviews the presence of the Indian army in the New Forest from 1914 to 1916. This covers the artillery units at Ashurst in 1914 and the Indians at the hospitals in Brockenhurst and Bournemouth and the Convalescent Depots at Barton on Sea and Milford on Sea. The talk will look at why the Indian wounded were brought to the New Forest, how they were treated, and how the Indians and the local residents interacted with each other.
