An hour long presentation that could be made suitable for a general purpose group. It could also be trimmed to just 30 minutes. In India, in colonial times, the various centres of administration vacated to ‘Hill Stations’ during the hottest months. The respective summer capitals for Delhi, Bombay, Madras and Calcutta, to use colonial names, each had a narrow gauge railway serving it and each of these railways were very different. Ray looks at these mountain lines with their dedicated locomotive types, and also, some of the other narrow gauge operations which served the plains. The presentation includes a brief look at Sri Lanka and also views of two of the hill-station locos which serve heritage operations in the UK.

Talks are generally associated with trains (mostly nostalgic steam) the railways themselves and associated historical aspects. Most talks were planned for railway interest groups but can be tailored to audience, whether knowledgeable on rail subjects or not and using both Ray's own photo material and other sourced images.
