In 1920's England, Ilford (then part of Essex, now Greater London) was suddenly catapulted into the National media headlines by the story of an ill-fated love triangle that ended in disaster and became a cause celebre.

This murder spawned several books, and a TV drama series based on the actual events that took place - the events have entered the history books for more than one reason.

About Margaret Mills

I am a qualified and experienced (25 plus years) part-time adult education lecturer, and give talks to various different organisations. My specialisms are History and English Literature, (mainly 18th and 19th centuries) and my talk topics are mainly selected from this period. I also broadcast a regular book review slot and a local history slot on community radio, and regularly contribute to newsletters, magazines and journals of both the Bronte Society and the Jane Austen Centre. I am a member of the Royal Historical Society. My academic qualifications are a BA Honours Degree in Humanities with History, and a Masters Degree in Education, also Post-graduate Certificates in both Education and Educational Learning Support. My talks can be anything from 30 minutes to an hour (or more) in length, depending on requirements, and I am always happy to answer questions afterwards. The talks I give can be of a purely academic nature, or there are other options with a more light-hearted and humorous slant, if required! My aim is to inform and entertain.
