The RAF Search and Rescue talk looks at the history of the RAF Search & Rescue force that was formed in 1941 during World War Two and at the time consisted of fixed wing aircraft and rescue boats.
With the introduction of rotary wing aircraft after the war, the RAF introduced the Sycamore, Whirlwind, Wessex and Sea King helicopters into its list of SAR assets.
In this talk, Brian will delve into the history of the SAR Force from its formation in 1941 to the disbandment of the SAR Force in 2015.

For as long as I can remember I have been fascinated by military history, especially when it is related to the Royal Air Force. A subject which has become my full-time passion, or as some would say ‘obsession’.
In 2022 I turned my hobby into a business and formed HistoryFare by becoming a tour guide and public speaker delivering a range of talks covering both local history and military history.
