Melton Mowbray is famous as the Capital of Fox Hunting, and this once popular sport along with other equine sports like steeple chasinga nd point to point brought in the rich and famous including Lords, Ladies, Princes and Princesses asw ell as future Kings and Queens including royalty from overseas countries.
One of those Lords that had a ‘Hunting Lodge’ in Melton Mowbray was the Earl of Cardigan who became famous as the leader of the Charge of the Light Brigade. In this talk we explore Cardigan’s connection to Melton along with others who also have connections tot he town and fought in the various battles of the Crimean war.
