Long before policy or funding frameworks, people found ways to share land, resources and responsibility — turbaries are proof. I live near and volunteer on the Stockland turbaries, and they’ve taught me a great deal about collective action, care, and resilience.

This session explores how these common lands can inspire today’s charitable missions in stewardship, equity, and place-based impact. We’ll reflect on the practical lessons turbaries offer for collective governance, local empowerment, and long-term sustainability — from community land trusts to regenerative hubs.

Let’s take the wisdom of the land and turn it into action that serves people and planet.
