Turbaries are more than common land — they’re living systems of shared care, deep-rooted culture, and ecological balance. I’m fortunate to live right by the turbaries in Stockland and volunteer in their stewardship. These peatland commons have supported biodiversity, fuel, and community cohesion for centuries.
In this session, we’ll uncover what we can learn from turbaries in restoring our relationship with land and one another. We’ll explore peatland ecosystems, carbon storage, and collective regeneration — and how small-scale, local action matters deeply in the climate picture.
Let’s reconnect with the land — and the commons — through this ancient yet living practice.
