In 1982, age 23, I was posted to Oman as an Electronics Engineer with Marconi Radar to work on surveillance radar systems for the air force. I was based on the desert island of Masirah Island for one month and then spent a year in the desert at Thumrait and then a year at Seeb near Muscat. I had lots of great adventures, learned to dive and water ski, ran with the Hash running club and climbed a few mountains. All great "personality building stuff". Some of these adventures are covered in my book about the 1980s. Free pdf copies can be downloaded from https://jjhc.info/theupsanddownsofjeremyjames1980
