Within Bury St Edmunds Guildhall there remains the only ROC Operations Room out of 40 that were commissioned at the outbreak of WW2. This talk charts the history of the Observer Corps (later prefixed with Royal) and the stories behind the work of 14 group throughout the war and beyond. How it helped focus the limited air defences during the dark days of 1940, during the Battle of Britain. Its role in helping save allied lives as we finally took the war to Nazi occupied Europe from 1942 onwards.
