After being wounded in February 1915 on the Marne, my great-grandfather was deployed to French Indochina where he stayed until the end of the war and beyond. This talk explores the sights of the journey from Marseille to Indochina recorded in diaries and letters, using postcards from the collection as illustrations. It looks at the life of the soldiers and their experience of the First World War in a different country.
