Today many people come to marvel at the incredible lunar landscape and beautiful colours of what was the centre of the world’s copper production. The story of the mine is inextricably linked with a local man. Thomas Williams, who was an amazing entrepreneur. On the back of Copper Mountain, he built a huge business empire at a time when just moving from A to B was a challenge. He became one of the richest men in the UK as one of the leaders of the early Industrial Revolution.
