An amazing Victorian woman who just took for granted that she could do anything a man could do ( and usually did it better)! Born into a well-heeled rich northern family, she was able to indulge her passions for mountain climbing, archaeology, languages and travel. But perhaps her greatest achievement was the creation and the setting- up of the modern State of Iraq. This presentation traces her life.

A former RAF officer, pilot, logistician and explosives specialist. A hotelier and senior manager in the Defence Industry; with wife Karen, lived and worked for many years in the Middle East. Has travelled widely. An eclectic range of interests that include amongst others history, travel and aviation. An experienced presenter in person and by zoom of illustrated talks to groups both large and small.
