What’s conflict first aid? Well, it is like medical first aid-–simple steps that anyone can do to help a person in a bad situation. The aim of medical first aid is to preserve life, prevent harm and promote recovery. The aim of conflict first aid is to protect what is important, prevent harm and promote relationships. No one likes to admit they have a conflict, so they ignore it or muddle through. And most of the time, things get worse. People have often struggled for months if not years and relationships have broken down before they call in an expert. At the end of most mediations, someone will say to me “I wish we had had this conversation months ago. We would have saved so much pain/time/money”. I hate seeing people suffer needlessly. I want people to learn how to have better relationships and address unmet needs in more productive ways. So I teach Conflict First Aid. After the course, I send out a free ebook with exercises from the course.

Her varied career included nursing, midwifery, business ownership, management and training. All her roles involved helping others improve their lives. Please note that Nancy works during the day so is available evenings only, although she might be available for daytime work if asked a week or less in advance Nancy says "As an accredited civil and commercial mediator, I often see people whose lives have been blighted by misunderstanding, businesses held back or relationships damaged. Usually, at the end of a successful mediation, someone says, "I wish we'd had this conversation earlier..." As a business and personal coach, I've seen charities struggling because directors don't get on, family businesses failing due to personality clashes and grief caused by disagreements. Having owned and worked in family businesses, I know the special strains (as well as the joys) these bring. It was this that led me to study why people behave the way they do and how to help them find their own solutions to stress and conflict."
