Julie is a very experienced and qualified genealogist and historian who lectures regularly on a variety of genealogical subjects, both to UK and International audiences, either in person or via an online medium. Julie has particular interest in researching surnames & European ancestors both of which she teaches as a Pharos Tutor. Julie, who holds BA (Hons) in History, and an Advanced Diploma in Local History, is an author and a frequent writer in a variety of genealogical magazines.

Julie began researching her own family history in the late 1980s her obsession was fed by a series of elderly relatives who loved to share the family history. Julie's maternal roots are from the south east of England, Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire where they have been for about 300 years, and her paternal roots are from Sicily.

In 2019 Julie received Certificate of Recognition by the Society of Genealogists for exceptional services to genealogy and one-name studies, promoting methodology, aims, processes and strategies. She was also a recipient of the Master Craftsman award in the same year from the Guild of One-Name Studies in recognition of her contribution to the Charity organisation as a Trustee in addition to her contribution & work in educating about the concept of a One-Name Study.

Availability

Talks can be given online or in person, and can take place during the day or evening. Talks generally use Power Point and are always updated. A handout is available and these can be made available in PDF format.

Online talks are possible (and preferred) Whilst Julie prefers notice of talk requests, she understands that occasionally that is not possible. You are welcome to contact Julie to see if she can accommodate a short notice or emergency talk.
