In this presentation we have examined the reasons, or at least some of them, for migration and the unusual geographical position the British Isles finds itself in; located in Europe whilst being a former large global Empire.

There are many ways that you can explore the foundations of your migrant ancestors in the British Isles and in many ways, you need to understand and social, political, religious and economical context your ancestors lived in, and how those elements might have influenced the decision to make a life in a new country and the implications of doing so.
