This isn't a mathematical presentation. We take a humourous look at official reports and published figures and graphs which either misrepresent or totally misunderstand the underlying data, and the difference between correlation and causation.
Did you realise that as ice cream sales increase so does the number of shark attacks? Were you aware that children with bigger feet spell better? Did you know that the UK Parliament actually debated banning tin helmets during the war because they were causing head injuries?
Although these, and others, are technically correct they all miss the point, which we will uncover.
Views: 60 | Enquiries: 0I was born and raised in Scotland but have lived in England since my early 20s, though my accent is still noticeable! I worked for most of my adult life as a management consultant but laterally worked for 7 years at Guide Dogs, managing their data analyst section (you can blame me for you being selected as a good candidate to do their raffle!). I have a range of interests, some of which I've been developing into talks I can give. These include subjects such as board and table games (I run two board games groups within a local U3A) and Shakespeare (which I disliked when young but grew to love). My talks usually have some humour injected into them (or, as someone once said, "he thinks they have"!).
