Our Lunar Society in Hook Norton of which I'm a member is named in homage to this august group, who drove huge transformations in botany, chemistry, commerce to serve the needs of the emerging middle class, engineering, geology, medicine, philosophy, and society to name just a few. You could very easily claim that they drove many of the most important changes that happened in the Industrial Revolution. We know some of the names - Matthew Boulton, Erasmus Darwin, Joseph Priestley, James Watt, Josiah Wedgwood, but what do we really know about what they did? Time to find out a bit more ...

About John McCormick

I've recently retired and one of the things I'm looking forward to is to spend more time speaking and telling stories. I regularly give talks in my local village in the Cotswolds, the fabulous Hook Norton. These talks have ranged from the history of Bletchley Park to the Apollo space programme, to the history of flight to the story of how they solved how to measure Longitude. I'm happy to give these talks to other groups, or to research and then speak on a topic of interest to groups.
