About Helen Astrid

After graduating from the Royal Academy of Music, Helen pursued a career as a soprano soloist, singing at most of the major UK venues including English National Opera, The Linbury Studio Covent Garden, Garsington Opera Festival and Chelsea Opera Group at the South Bank.

Helen is an award-winning entrepreneur and singing expert. She devotes her time between teaching, leading workshops and team-building sessions and running workplace choirs. Helen is also in demand as a speaker. With regular broadcasts on television and radio including BBC World News and The Paul O'Grady Show, she recently gave her first Ted Talk ‘Tell me the truth about Opera’.

In 2017, she produced the UK premiere of The Juniper Tree, an opera by Philip Glass, receiving outstanding international reviews. She runs The Helen Astrid Singing Academy and Corporate Singing Workshops, both providing outstanding singing training to individuals and organisations. She has been appointed as singing teacher at the International School of London and mentors students wishing to pursue a career in music.

Her book Singing Tips at your Fingertips has been described by Gary Lachman (The Guardian) as “the place to find the singer within”.

She lives in south west London near the River Thames and enjoys art, architecture and travelling.
