Leicester Cathedral houses the Regimental chapel of the Royal Leicestershire Regiment, which was dedicated in November 1921.
The regiment was founded in 1688 as an infantry regiment and was amalgamated with the Royal Anglian regiment in 1964. During its 276 year history its soldiers served bravely in many theatres of war.
In this thought provoking talk we examine the history of the Leicestershire regiment in the wider context of Britain's colonial history. It will interest anyone with an interest in both military history and contested heritage.

The Cathedral has recently reopened following major restoration. Having developed slideshows during the closure period, which we can take out to outside organisations, we are very keen to continue with this offer. Topics we cover include the re-interment of Richard III, a highlights tour of the Cathedral, The Cathedral windows, the Regimental Chapel - A post colonial perspective and the Leicester Cathedral Revealed project and the archaeological dig. Our talks are delivered by trained and enthusiastic Cathedral guides, whilst the slideshows have been developed to a very high standard.
If your organisation has a keen interest in history and would like us to showcase Leicester Cathedral in this way we would be delighted to hear from you.
