Did you know that some grapes love a cool climate, others love a warm climate.
That if it wasn't for the effects of water and stones, cabernet sauvignon may not be able to create some of the most famous wines in Bordeaux? Or that pinot noir trembles in the sight of a hot sun, but grenache loves it and would lay on a sunbed if it could? Jane Clare of One Foot in the Grapes will take you on a global tour, and some famous grapes, to explain how coast, mountains and climate - not forgetting soils and rivers - influence the decisions grapegrowers and winemakers must make. Those decisions, and geography, influence the wines in our glass. This is a 75-minute Zoom interactive presentation. Jane encourages you to have a sip (or two) of the wines mentioned in the talk. In the latter part of the session Jane will talk you through your wines, encouraging you to smell, taste, and discuss them using professional techniques. You don't need to know anything about wine to take part. Allow Jane to open your eyes to the wine world! Before the talk, Jane can offer suggestions for High Street wines to buy. When Jane has left the Zoom, guests can continue to use her link for a further unlimited chat and a catch-up. The talk can be in person, but the fee would be based on numbers and distance travelled. Jane would provide the wine. Please ask.
