A Governor's view of his life working in different prisons. I focus on my engagement with staff, prisoners, trade unions, politicians, visitors, the media, lawyers and families. I take my audience on a journey of some of the issues that I had to deal with, and ask the audience what they would have done in my shoes.
I explore the question "Does prison work?"
I share moments of triumph, disaster and tragedy. I also ask my audience to visualise themselves as prisoners, and try to find a way to beat the system.
I use some personal anecdotes, and also present the humorous side of life inside.

I served as a Prison Governor at a number of different prisons in the Midlands and South West areas of England. I was the first Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner for Essex.
I have provided commentary and analysis on a number of BBC programmes, TV and radio. I have written a number of articles aimed at criminal justice professionals involved in the Youth Justice system.
I have also written some short stories, based on my experiences in prison. I have been commended from different sources
My presentations are laced with humour, facts and anecdotes; I seek to take my audience on a journey of exploration inside the murky world or prisons.
