More than any other plants, trees are intricately linked to us. Our use of trees spans every aspect of our lives, from providing interest to the most barren of landscapes, to their use as building materials and as a source of foods, medicines and a wide range of other beneficial substances. Using 12 trees as examples, this talk explores these uses and links the extracted materials back to their role in the trees themselves.

About Gwenda Kyd

I am a scientist and complementary medicine practitioner. My main interests are in plants and how we can use them. I love learning about new plants and sharing the stories I have found in my talks, blogs or books.

I co-devised the Chemicals from Plants Trail at Cambridge University Botanic Garden and published a book on an extended version called "Molecules, Medicine and Mischief", in 2014, which was reprinted in 2019. I am a Bach flower remedy practitioner and in 2018 published my second book, "The Plants of Dr Bach", on the plants used to make the remedies.
