Spent 40 years in Education - Engineering and Technology. Head of learning at the National Railway Museum. Currently Trustee, Guard and Mechanical Engineer at the Derwent Valley Light Railway, Murton, York.
The Derwent Valley Light Railway ran between York and Cliffe Common, about 11 miles. It opened in 1913 and the last service ran in 1981.
Half a mile of track still exists at Murton and we run heritage trains on Sunday's and bank holidays. There are currently 13 locomotives on site, 8 of which are operational.
