Biography:

I served for over 26 years in the Royal Air Force as a musician before commissioning as a Director of Music. Appointed as the Principal Director of Music for the final seven years of my career I was responsible for all music support to State Ceremonial, defence engagement and the third sector Service charities.

Throughout my career I was fortunate to travel to some extraordinary places, meet Royalty, Heads of State, and work with some of the UK's most famous professional musicians. I can provide some unique insights into leading a creative workforce within a military setting and provide 'behind the scenes' understanding to how the large scale ceremonial events of recent years were put together.

Based in Lincolnshire I am willing to travel with expenses applied.

Testimonials

Piers Morrell gave an admirable talk to our History group; he kindly agreed to help us at fairly short notice when our expected speaker had to withdraw. The content was absolutely fascinating and surely wholly novel to all of us, and his unusual story was told with wit and humour. He is personally charming and his presentation skills are excellent: a good Powerpoint show with a couple of sound tracks included, a pleasant speaking voice, and the whole thing just the right length (with lots of audience questions and comments afterwards to complete our pleasure). With engaging and justified pride he brought along his medals and some other interesting documents connected to his talk. Recommended without reservation!

First class talk - fascinating and delivered brilliantly.

Without doubt the best talk we have had to date. Great insights and a really engaging speaker. Thank you!
