In the final years of my career in the Royal Air Force I was involved in delivering the funerals for HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and the Coronation of their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
These historic occasions were broadcast to billions of people and viewed in over 100 countries. In this talk I provide some 'behind the scenes' highlights into how these events were rehearsed and performed to the exceptional standard that the UK military are known and respected for. I share my own personal reflections on participating in these events with insights into what it takes to coordinate these occasions, and share a few 'you couldn't make this up but it is true' moments.
Awarded an OBE for service to the RAF in Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's final New Year Honours List and appointed a Member of the Royal Victorian Order by King Charles III for service to the Royal family, I can bring my medals for people to view them.
Views: 9 | Enquiries: 0I served for over 26 years in the Royal Air Force as a musician before commissioning as a Director of Music. Appointed as the Principal Director of Music for the final seven years of my career I was responsible for all music support to State Ceremonial, defence engagement and the third sector Service charities.
Throughout my career I was fortunate to travel to some extraordinary places, meet Royalty, Heads of State, and work with some of the UK's most famous professional musicians. I can provide some unique insights into leading a creative workforce within a military setting and provide 'behind the scenes' understanding to how the large scale ceremonial events of recent years were put together.
Based in Lincolnshire I am willing to travel with expenses applied.
