Details of talks given by Alan JENKINS
Hello! I am retired Police Inspector. I was daft enough to do 32 years in the Police, ( Merseyside & Dorset). I worked in Public Order, Counter-Terrorism, Training, and Operations. Whilst in Operations I planned and commanded Royal Visits, as well being in charge of the Dog Section and Public Order.
TALK 1- THE ROYAL VISIT THAT WENT WRONG ! : I discuss the complex detail that goes into a 'medium' sized royal visit. I then illustrate this by discussing a senior royal visit where nearly everything that could go wrong - did!
This is a very popular and humorous recounting of a challenging day!
Towards the end of my career I worked in Counter-Terrorism. I worked with Dorset Police Special Branch and the South West Counter Terrorism Intelligence Unit.
I was the Dorset Lead Officer for the Prevent element of the Governments Counter-Terrorism Strategy.
TALK 2: TERRORISM-WHAT YOU CAN DO TO PREVENT IT. I give a fascinating talk on the current threats to the UK and discuss a case I personally dealt with concerning extreme Islamist terrorists.
I completed my police career working in the Gold Command for the 2012 Games and assisted planning for Weymouth &Portland Sailing Events. I Joined Coastguard Rescue on retirement and I am a volunteer crew member on a charity sailing boat.
