Details of talks given by Andrew Emmerson JP LLB
I am a sitting Magistate in Cheshire. My talk is about the work of a Magistate and what really occurs in the courts every day.
My objective is that by the end of my presentation the audience has a better understanding of the role of their local Magistates and has confidence in the fairness of the administration of justice.
My talk includes details about the history of the role and how the criminal justice system works. I share stories from the recent cases I’ve dealt with ( with no breach of confidentiality) and the lessons I’ve learnt from my years as a Justice of the Peace
The session is interactive with questions from the audience encouraged.
I am only able to attend events in Cheshire
I am the Diversity and Community Magistrate for Cheshire and the coordinator for the work of “ Magistrates in the Community “ in Cheshire.
In the last 12 months I’ve delivered talks in over 30 schools, colleges and community groups across the county.
