The talk is about the role of local magistrates in the administration of criminal justice.
It covers the history of the role and shares stories and lessons from my years as a magistrate based in Cheshire . The session is highly interactive with questions encouraged and is ended with a quiz to check understanding.
My objective is that the audience is left with a better understanding of the role of their local magistrates and have confidence in the fairness of the system.

My talk includes details about the history of the role and how the criminal justice system works. I share stories from the recent cases I’ve dealt with ( with no breach of confidentiality) and the lessons I’ve learnt from my years as a Justice of the Peace

I am the Diversity and Community Magistrate for Cheshire and the coordinator for the work of “ Magistrates in the Community “ in Cheshire.
