An exploration of what is often misleadingly named “animal rights”. The talk looks at philosophy, history, ideology, links to other movements, such as anti racism, feminism, anti slavery and so on and also visits a range of topics including the environment and veganism.

Les has a background in pathology, specifically biochemistry, as well as in community health and education. Although from Liverpool he has lived and worked in five countries in Africa over the last 40+ years His current research work is in animal ethics, particularly examining language, texts, ideology, moral disengagement and mass violence. He is a Research Fellow with the University of the Free State, South Africa and a Fellow of the Oxford Centre for Animal Ethics, UK
