Further entertaining poems, anecdotes and stories. This 45- 60 minute set is taken from my 2 hour one man show of the same name. I cover such areas as; not being believed that I'm ill, holidays, unsolicited advice, teenagers and further stories about growing up with my Nanna - in particular bath night and wash day. 'Despite not knowing quite what to expect, all greatly enjoyed his session which was not at all “highbrow.” Some of his poems were humorous, some nostalgic and others very poignant and affecting. He is clearly an experienced performer who can “hold” his audience and appeal to a wide range of emotions.' Widdrington WI
Views: 7 | Enquiries: 0I am a North East based performance poet. I offer performances rather than talks. With a range of entertaining poems and anecdotes I have sets that would be suitable for various groups (Think more Pam Ayres and John Cooper Clarke rather than Wordsworth). My performances are light, and engaging, and filled with humour, although I add a couple of more serious poems to the sets, to provide some shade to the lightness. They are accessible for all ages. I cover a range of subjects such as: The things your mother used to say to you when you were young, How bad men are at buying presents, My fondness for cups of tea, How I got into poetry and where I get ideas, Old telephone boxes, How my grandmother used to gossip, The perils of getting older, and How bad men are at doing the shopping. Performance lengths can be developed to suit the needs of the group. I have received a range of recommendations including: Central Gosforth WI. 'Huge thanks go to Ian Williams, The Amble Poet, for his performance at our meeting last week. His poetry was humorous, witty and steeped in a world known to all of us … everyday life! If you get the chance to see him perform don’t let it pass you by' and 'Blythe Spirit WI recently had the Amble Poet. He was fabulous, we had no idea what to expect, but he's very humorous with a great insight into human behaviour, well worth spending an evening with.'
