Jools served for almost 6 years on the Metropolitan Police's famous Flying Squad - more popularly known as 'The Sweeney'. The remit of the squad was to combat armed robbery in London which in the 90's was at epidemic levels. Their boundaries weren't just confined to London, with many armed robbery gangs crossing county borders. Jools will elaborate on how the squad worked to put the villains behind bars. The unrelenting hours and the work hard, play hard ethos that ran through the detectives on the team. The talk is supported with many images illustrating the life that a New Scotland Yard detective on this squad endured.

This was mainly within Specialist Operations at New Scotland Yard (NSY). His considerable expertise was acquired from prolonged and highly successful postings to the elite Counter Terrorism Command, the SO11 Covert Surveillance Unit and the Flying Squad. On his retirement from the MPS he received a rare accolade where he was personally thanked by The Commissioner, Sir Ian Blair who presented him with his Certificate of Service. On retirement, Jools ran a successful surveillance company in the private sector for many years. He has done some after-dinner speaking delivering a fascinating insight into the covert operation leading up to the infamous Millennium Dome diamond robbery.
