This Talk is an amusing look at what's involved in gaining a PPL at the age of 50, whilst still working at the day job. It looks at the exams, the practice and finally what happens when you qualify and buy a share in a rather old French Wood & Canvas plane even older than yourself. Finally, a brief look at the "Crash" !! or as I prefer to call it a "rather heavy landing"

Following graduation with a BSc (Hons) degree he subsequently worked for American-based IT organisations and European Engineering companies, in a variety of senior Management and Technology roles. He finished his full-time working career at Aston University, Birmingham, supervising Post-Graduate MSc programmes. During his career he regularly presented at International Conferences.
He has been a Chartered Engineer for over 30 years and became a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers serving on many of its committees. Following retirement he has been a regular presenter to u3a, NT and Probus groups in the Thames Valley.
