Chalk Streams are unique to our corner of Europe and are almost exclusively English. There are some in Normandy, France and some in Denmark .Chalk streams are a very special type of River. Of the 210 rivers in the world classified as chalk streams, 160 are in England. This Talk examines how they are formed, where they are and the dangers they are currently facing.

Following graduation with a BSc (Hons) degree he subsequently worked for American-based IT organisations and European Engineering companies, in a variety of senior Management and Technology roles. He finished his full-time working career at Aston University, Birmingham, supervising Post-Graduate MSc programmes. During his career he regularly presented at International Conferences.
He has been a Chartered Engineer for over 30 years and became a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers serving on many of its committees. Following retirement he has been a regular presenter to u3a, NT and Probus groups in the Thames Valley.
