The use of vaccines is old, before Edward Jenner even! Those early users had no idea how vaccines worked they just had a parental desperation to protect their children. Today we still have that desire to protect and in this talk I explore how the different types vaccines that we have today work and why sometimes they don't.

About David Baxter

I am a retired Biochemist (Bsc Manchester, PhD London) and worked in the fields of diabetes, obesity and vaccine development. Since retirement I have kept a close interest in research into the origin of life which has seen very significant progress in the last 20 years that deserves the attention of a wider audience. My talk is for non-biochemists and explains how we think life began on this planet and the implication that has for life on other planets.
