The use of vaccines is old, more than a 1000 yrs old driven by the scourge that was Smallpox so even before Edward Jenner the father of modern vaccines! Those early users had no idea how vaccines worked they just had a parental desperation to protect their children. Today we still have that desire to protect but there is a lot of social media noise around this topic. Knowing how vaccines work and why sometimes they don't can help us understand the debates. This talk is for a general non-scientific audience.
Views: 344 | Enquiries: 0I am a retired Biochemist (Bsc Manchester, PhD London) and worked in the fields of diabetes, obesity and vaccine development. Since retirement I have kept a close interest in research into the origin of life which has seen very significant progress in the last 20 years that deserves the attention of a wider audience. My vaccine talk aims to entertain and inform a general audience with little or no science background. My origin of life talk has two versions , one for the general audience and one that is suitable for groups with a science interest. It explains how we think life began on this planet and the implication that has for life on other planets.
