The talk gives an overview of the richness of Arab Cultural. The idea is awareness for harmony in all interaction from business to tourism in a manner which encourages mutual respect and enjoyment. A key factor is that Arab culture is looked at from a non- Arab/Regional point of view. The speaker has many decade of experience in the Gulf Region which is a focus of the talk
The start point is “What is Culture?” The it moves on to “Who is an Arab?” which is important to know whom we are discussing. The elements of Arab Culture that help make up the mindset of a culture are discussed including language, literature, gastronomy, art, architecture, music, spirituality, philosophy, mysticism and more; and that there is no single mind of a culture. The key elements discussed are Islam, language, behaviour, tradition, and hospitality, which are the essential elements to make a visit or interaction more enjoyable and successful. All facets are illustrated by examples from personal experiences.
A key element is that we are all essentially the same but may have different traditions and beliefs. Culture is there to be respected and enjoyed not to create a barrier. A demonstration of cultural knowledge will be appreciated and will help both social and business interaction.
