Born into a theatrical family in the back streets of Wigan little did anyone know or imagine at the time of Eleanor Robson’s birth just how famous she would one day become. This talk traces her life from her school days in a private academy on Staten Island, New York, becoming a star of the American stage to her work for the Red Cross and subsequent fund raising in WWII. A friend of presidents and founder of the New York Metropolitan Opera guild she became a woman who excelled.
Views: 21 | Enquiries: 0I have a BA (Hons) degree in History and am an active local historian. I have been Editor of the Barwick-in-Elmet Historical Society's journal for sixteen years. My main area of historical interest is the Gascoigne Family who lived at Lotherton Hall. I have co-written a book about the Gascoignes and their chauffeur (he outlived all the Gascoignes whom he worked for) entitled 'The Spirit of Lotherton'. I am also an experienced family historian.
