Gary Powell is a former police detective and a published author of both true crime and crime novels. He has published seven books in these genres as well as an autobiography in verse. The talk covers the very basis of writing a novel or true crime, with readings from his books. The talk focuses on where ideas come from, writing dialogue, research, police procedure and what options are available for publishing your work and allows plenty of time for your questions.

I have a passion for history particularly in the field of true crime.
