Amelia Earhart was the most famous female celebrity of her time and her disappearance on a round the world flight is one of the great mysteries of the 20th century. This talk explores the background of her rise to fame and goes on to look at her achievements and the fateful final flight. It also tries to come up with what actually caused the disappearance and what may have been her final fate.
How did Amelia's early life lead to her catching the flying bug? What were her early successes ?
Why did she describe herself as a sack of potatoes on her first transatlantic crossing?
How much of her fame was due to her publicist , who eventually became her husband?
Just how difficult was her solo flight across the Atlantic? What prompted the round the world attempt?
