Discover what happens from planning to report writing Today most archaeological sites are chosen because an Archaeological Condition has been added to a Planning Application.
This talk guides you through the processes of deciding where to dig, the different methods of revealing the archaeology, identifying different features and artefacts, research, specialist assessments, through to that final report/publication.
Examples are taken mainly from sites in York and the East Yorkshire, however wherever possible examples will also include sites from venue area.

I then became an archaeologist, working in the city and surrounding area, allowing me to make some wonderful discoveries which has added to the understanding of how people lived (and died) in various different historical periods within the Yorkshire and Humberside area.
