A fully illustrated talk about the mysteries held within some of the world’s most famous paintings. The art world is full of enigmas, many pictures hold a secret and many artists are not what they seem. In this talk I look at the mysteries held beneath the surface of the paintings, list to a modern audience. I touch upon the identity of the Girl with the Pearl Earring and I also unravel some of the signs and symbols in well known and some less well known paintings. Find out what they really mean!

About Paula Harmer

I was a primary teacher and headteacher all my working life and have given many talks and presentations to adults, but now I can indulge my passions! When I retired I discovered that I am a pastelist (I’d never touched pastels before!) and I use that skill to raise money for an animal rescue centre in North Macedonia, run entirely by two dedicated young women. I have currently three art talks, all well illustrated with slides, both entertaining and enlightening.
