In this talk Richard will share his motivation and interest in researching local history, looking at why local or community history is important. He will talk about how he came about to write his books about Wokingham and discuss some ideas about local history projects.

He has also written and published books on local history. He has appeared on radio and gives talks and presentations on various themes. He enjoyed a successful business career, and continues to work as a lecturer and academic. He holds a PhD from the University of Gloucestershire. He is married and lives near Wokingham in Berkshire.
