We will tell you more about the charity Medic to Medic which is operational in Malawi supporting trainee health workers at 5 different universities. There is a critical shortage of human resources in developing countries. Medic to Medic selects students who are most vulnerable to dropping out of their courses due to their backgrounds. Their stories of overcoming challenges are inspiring. We have a community of over 50 students each year and a network of over 120 alumni.

Medic to Medic is a UK registered charity which provides scholarships to trainee health workers in developing countries, with their largest community of students being in Malawi. Medic to Medic supports medical students, physiotherapists, pharmacists, nurse/midwives, mental health workers, clinical officers and optometrists. They select the students most vulnerable to dropping out of their training, namely female students, those from orphan or single parent families with non professional parents from rural areas. These students are the ones most likely to stay in their home countries and work in underserved areas once qualified, yet these are the students most at risk of dropping out of their training. When a student is sponsored by Medic to Medic we guarantee their tuition fees until graduation, provide a twice yearly stationery allowance, medical equipment pack, laptop and medical books. Medic to Medic has over 50 students in training each year and a network of over 100 alumni in Malawi.
