New Zealand is a country of extraordinary beauty and unspoiled wilderness. This is an off-beat and humorous journey into parts of kiwi-land that most of the locals never get to see. Two small off-road motorcycles allowed us to explore the old Maori tracks, sheep-drovers’ routes and gold-miners’ trails of the land of the long white cloud.

With hilarious encounters and manic mishaps, we survived three months and 11,000 kilometres of frequent soakings and occasional roastings. Lured onwards by the rugged landscape’s wild roads we traversed rain forests and desert trails, up volcanoes and through river beds.

In remote outposts, sheep stations and rustic towns we met larger than life characters who offered old fashioned friendship, wonderful hospitality and endless entertainment.

Full of vivid flashbacks and improbable bodge-ups, this is a humorous take on life, New Zealand and adventure. It became a voyage of discovery of ourselves as much as the land down under. Climb on board for the ride of your life.

This is an illustrated 40-60 minute Power Point presentation.

About Bob Goddard

Formerly a journalist and businessman, I am now an author and publisher. I’ve travelled to the farthest corners of the world and even to the Moon (!) to research my books and talks. My wife, Viv, accompanies me on most of these epic adventures, riding a motorbike of her own and emerging as the heroine of the story. For my Moon mission I narrowly avoided being shot into space by calling on experts from NASA and Moscow instead.

My talks are all Power Point presentations and I use 60 illustrations or more in each talk. The Mother Moon talk is also available as a stand-alone if required (see below). As most venues now have IT screens, I no longer provide my own projection equipment, but hook my laptop to your system. Talks usually last between 40 and 60 minutes and can be split for a tea break if required. I’m happy to provide a Q&A session at the end of the talk. I also bring along some books and support materials, so a display table would be welcomed for these.

  • STAND ALONE: I can also provide an unsupported stand-alone talk for Mother Moon. It can be anything from 30-60 minutes long, as required.

  • SHORT NOTICE: I’m often available at short notice, so give me a call if you are stuck.

  • NORFOLK: I rarely give talks outside my home county.

  • FULLY VACCINATED: I have had all my covid jabs.
