Working with a professional standard but amateur Ballet Company has given me over 16 years’ worth of insights and experience of creating a major stage production, including the creation of stunning costumes and anecdotes of behind the scenes.
The word “Ballet” could easily be replaced by “Opera, Musical Theatre or Stage Play and, whilst tutus are mentioned (How could they not be?) it is more in terms of their creation.
Views: 1409 | Enquiries: 10I am a devoted fan of dance. A late return to classes rekindled my love for dance and led me into a world that I thought had passed me by. I became involved with an amateur ballet company in 2002, joined the committee later that year and also performed with them from 2002 until 2018.
Elected as Chairman in 2010 I successfully transferred my extensive business skills and experience into its organisation, channeling my efforts and motivation into ensuring the future of this amateur company; stepping down in 2018 I left it in an enviable financial position. Giving talks brought it to the attention of a far wider audience and boosted ticket sales by proactive marketing. Talks about behind the scenes complexities of staging major works brought a new dimension of understanding and enthusiasm to audiences from around Essex and beyond.
I am continuing to share my love of dance and theatre with entertaining talks to audiences from Townswomens’ Guilds, NWR groups, U3As, Rotary Clubs, Women’s Institutes etc. wherever there is a desire for interesting, educational and lighthearted talks with Ballet as a central theme. I donate my fee to the MS Society.
My talks are accompanied by PowerPoint presentations and all last approximately 45 minutes. I bring a tutu and shoes to illustrate all talks. I supply all of the equipment including a screen where necessary. I am happy to give talks via ZOOM, although my preference is in person where possible. I look forward to hearing from you.
