THIS TALK AVAILABLE FROM MAY, 2019 This presentation, containing nearly 60 pictures, shows a selection of jewels from the private collection of the Queen and other royal ladies. Many of the pieces have fascinating stories of their origin and history, and a few were involved in scandals, too! See some of the world’s most beautiful jewel collections. The presentation is accompanied by a display of replica tiaras, including the stunning Queen’s Brazilian Aquamarine Tiara and other items, too. Enjoy a sparkling gathering in celebration of the beauty of jewellery. (Why not come wearing your own glittering treasure?)

(The Crown Jewels are described in another talk - see list)

About Mrs Frances Raftery

I'm a retired (Science) teacher with a passion for History. I started talks about 5 years ago, found I enjoyed it and, until now, have never advertised: word got around from those who had heard my presentations and I often have repeat bookings.

Many of my talks are accompanied by items I bring for illustration and I always bring projector, laptop (and screen if required). Illustrated talks last about one hour.

I enjoy meeting people - whether it is WI, TG, Probus, church groups or others and welcome input during talks - people often have interesting anecdotes of their own to share.

I'm prepared to travel - about a 15 mile radius from my home in Atherton M46. My aim is to provide a good morning, afternoon or evening for my audience to make their outing worthwhile.

I talk on about a dozen different topics and will be glad to send (by email) information on all of them to interested enquirers.
