This is a fun talk about the literary careers of my three Border Terriers. It traces its beginnings with Rolo, arguably the naughtiest dog in the country, and his everyday antics which lead to his dog blog, www.rolotheborderterrier.blogspot.com, and some early magazine articles such as ‘I should have bought a Guinea Pig’. In a quirk of fate, Rolo was awarded his own magazine column which was quickly followed by his first book ‘The Last Rolo’ and, building on the success of this, a second, ‘Sit, Stay, Roll Over’. Rolo, like all famous authors, was interviewed on the radio, and in the press, and eventually, took on an apprentice, Teddy, who came to us when Teddy's first owner died. Teddy picked up the literary mantle, and, after playing tug, ran away with it, and, following the loss of Rolo at the grand old age of 16 years, has found his own writer's voice and literary style. He now has an apprentice of his own, Bear, who is still at the chubby crayons stage of her literary career.
Views: 1755 | Enquiries: 6I am a freelance writer, writing across a range of genres, locally and nationally. I am perhaps best known for writing as my dogs, idiosyncratic Border Terriers. Of the two latest encumbants, Teddy, the elder, has his own blog, magazine column, and Twitter account, whilst our younger dog, Bear, is still on the chubby crayons stage of her literary career. Our first Border, the late, great, and extremely badly behaved, Rolo, wrote two books which give his particular mischevious view on life, from knee high. In addition to my humorous dog talks, I also give talks on more serious topics: my journey as a writer, animal writing and also on poetry appreciation, dispelling those early school experiences with a more enjoyable, enlightened understanding. I am included by West Kent and East Sussex WIs, in their speakers' directories. I am a reliable, eloquent, engaging and entertaining speaker, happy delivering to small or large groups, by advanced pre-booking, or a relatively short notice subject to availibility.
