I am a retired Practice Nurse, who now spends a lot of time fundraising for Haiti Help. I've visited the island of LaGonave 9 times in the last 10 years. The poverty there is heartbreaking. Haiti Help tries to use the money raised to establish sustainable projects such as community chicken coops or goat projects. They also fund medical and dental access, and help fund an elderly and disabled food programme. They collaborate closely with a Haitian self help group to establish what the local needs are. The talk I give is light hearted and can be tailored to fill any timescale. While group members will be given information about how to donate, there is no "hard sell" for contributions to the charity. Please get in touch if you are interested.
