Biography:

I'm a volunteer at Aquabox, a remarkable disaster relief charity based in Wirksworth, Derbyshire. Aquabox manufactures simple, robust hand-pumped water filters, and sends them to disaster areas and conflict zones around the world, so that people living in desperate conditions can at least have access to safe, clean drinking water. Aquabox was founded 32 years ago, and must have helped to save thousands of lives over that time - and it is run almost entirely by unpaid volunteers.

My talk includes a short history of the charity, a live demonstration of what the Aquabox filter does, and also a demonstration of what goes into the Aqua Aid box of mixed humanitarian aid.

Feedback from previous audiences: • “Aquabox is very inspiring, and you certainly educated and entertained us!” • “You came to talk to our Townswomen’s Guild – we were very impressed by the work you do.” • “ Thank you for your enlightening talk - we all came away with a greater understanding of your aims; and the filter demonstrations were an eye opener, what a fabulous invention.” • “We were all really interested in your charity, and thoroughly enjoyed your talk – thank you for fielding so many questions.”
