Friends of the Nickey Line was formed in 2006 at the instigation of local councils to help support the footpath and cycleway based on the old railway line between Harpenden and Hemel Hempstead. See our website www.nickeyline.org.

I have been chairman since 2006 and given talks on the Nickey Line much of that time.

The talk covers the history of the old railway from 1860's to its closure in 1979, and also the modern history as a footpath and cycleway from 1985 to the present day. I also cover the challenges and successes of the Friends group since our formation.
